    [Intro]
You have heard how the banners drowned. Now hear how one did not. Sing the two the world cast out, the shield, the mercy, and the city that remains.

    [Verse 1]
“Let them rot,” the Council said, and not one lord said no, and shipped us to Ar-Numath, where the salt and silence grow: two disgraces at the world’s end, in a harbor left to rot; the house that named the Deceiver, and a priest the temples forgot. Kaelen kept the scorched black banner; Oreleth kept the elder dead. The flag the fire could not finish, and the faith no temple read. They meant it for forgetting. They meant it for a headstone. They did not care what died out there. They left us all alone.

    [Pre-Chorus]
Remember every hand that signed. Remember every lie. Remember they sent the best of us to the far shore to die.

    [Chorus]
We were sent here to die forgotten
    we remain here to remember!
The grave they gave us holds a city,
and the drowned world’s only ember.

    [Verse 2]
Then the far white flash at midday, and the sea drew back its breath, and the horizon rose to take us β€” a wall of water, crowned with death. No sea-wall stops what swallowed mountains. The garrison turned to flee. But Oreleth walked the rampart out β€” alone β€” to face the sea.

    [Verse 3]
He was a blind man cast from Numinar for the truth he would not hide: he had stood in the great sanctuary and named the omens lies when every priest who had his sight believed them with his eyes. They stripped his rank, they stripped his rites, they took his name and creed, and shipped him to the exiles’ harbor, where no man paid him heed. He could not see the wave that came β€” and still he did not flee. He raised his hands against the dark and faced the rising sea.

    [Verse 4]
No god of Numinar would answer β€” not one voice, not one sign β€” so he called the elder powers, the first and eldest line. He spoke no name we knew, in words no living tongue had heard, and the old forgotten godhead woke, and answered to his word.

    [Verse 5]
Then light leapt from the water’s edge and braced across the bay β€” a tower shield of burning dawn that would not break away. Three times the sea came down like hammers. Three times the great light rang like a struck blade over the harbor β€” and the old, old power sang. And the third wave broke, and slid away, and the ash came down like snow, and the light stood watch above the bay until the sea lay low.

    [Verse 6]
The last light guttered out. And then the blind man sank to knee, and then to stone, and then no more. He had given all to the sea. They ran to lift him from the wall; they called him, and they prayed β€” and all he said, and all he’d say, was only: “A fair trade.”

    [Verse 7]
Then sails came crawling from the dark, for the land-roads ran to sea: the broken banner-companies, with nowhere left to be, and β€” strangest sail in all the world β€” the Numinarian poor, who trusted the one house of Ar that never marched to war.

    [Verse 8]
Old Kaelen at the harbor-chain gave the order they still keep: he lowered it for every sail, for every soul upon the deep. “The Deceiver made us enemies” β€” hear the Mercy of Arn β€” “we will not do his work for him one hour past this dawn.”

    [Verse 9]
They raised a city up the cliffs, half banner-tower, half dome, and gave it one name with two hearts, for the two who called it home: Ar’num β€” “New Ar” to the scholar β€” but the harbor knows its own: Ar and Num. The sword, the psalm. The fist that learned to stay. Two nations that the Deceiver drowned β€” one people to this day.

    [Refrain]
The sword-arm of the drowned world lives, but lives now by the tide, and the praying hands of Numinar pray on at the soldier’s side.

    [Chorus]
We were sent here to die forgotten
    we remain here to remember!
The grave they gave us holds a city,
and the drowned world’s only ember.

    [Bridge]
On the Warden’s wall two things are hung, for every child to know: the one banner that did not drown, and an empty frame below. The frame is bare so none forget; the name is ash so none may call. And over the harbor gate, the shrine of Oreleth guards it all.

    [Outro]
They sent us here to die forgotten. We remain. We remember. We are the last home of Ar. We are the last home of Numinar, the two the Deceiver could not drown, standing where the world was brought down. And the banner stands upon the wall, and does not fall.

    [Intro]
Now sing the war that was never a war of men,
but the Deceiver’s war, fought with our own hands.
Sing the light that fell, and the floor of the world that broke β€”
and the sea that came, and stayed, and is standing there yet.

    [Verse 1]
For years the Iron Banners and the temple-hosts made war,
and each faithful throat that opened poured its worship on the floor.
The skies above them cracked and bled; the doctrine could not hold β€”
for the gods who drank their dying guttered dim, like lamps run cold.

    [Chorus]
Down, down go the banners of Ar,
down where no name is sung.
The sword-arm of the world is severed β€”
and the sea has stopped its tongue.

    [Verse 2]
No two survivors tell it same, but all of them tell this:
it began above the heartland with a second sun’s white kiss.
Brighter than the noon it hung, till shadows fell away,
and they who looked upon it stood there blinded where they lay.

    [Verse 3]
    Some say the Deceiver, cast down at godhood’s very door;
some say the old gods’ answer-stroke, that spared the world no more.
It struck the shining capital. First the light β€” a soundless white β€”
seen, they swear, from every nation, quenching every candle’s light.

    [Break]
The sound arrives. A wall of burning wind. Forests laid flat. The drum stops dead.

    [Verse 4]
Then the sound came rolling after, like the sky torn from its hinge,
and a tree of fire and shadow climbed the heavens at its fringe β€”
as if the dying god had planted, in the land that bought his crown,
its own great blazing funeral pyre, to burn the mourners down.

    [Verse 5]
And then the ground gave up its holding. The world’s floor cracked and gave.
The banner-halls, the ten thousand graves, the seats of Kel and Varn and Dral β€”
they groaned, they shuddered, and they sank; the sea rushed in to have them all.
A season the grey ash fell. The great waves walked the distant shore.
The sword-arm of the world was severed β€”
and the sea closed. Nothing more.

    [Chorus]
Down, down go the banners of Ar,
down where no name is sung.
The sword-arm of the world is severed β€”
and the sea has stopped its tongue.

    [Bridge]
We warned you. And you burned us. And you sent us to the sea.
And so, of all the sons of Ar, the traitors are the ones left free.
We keep your banners now, you dead β€” the honor and the shame β€”
we sing your drowned and shining halls, that someone keeps your name.

    [Outro]
There is a grave the width of a kingdom, and a sea above its head.
The fishermen there call it the Banner Sea.
They do not know they are sailing over Ar.
    But we know. We remember.
And while one voice of Arn still breathes β€”
    the banner does not fall.

  • I started trying N8N back before harnesses became the hot thing, even with Claude’s help though (I think 4.5?) I couldn’t really get anything useful out of it. Then ClawedBot became a thing. I was on the fence about trying it out, then came Hermes, and I tried to dabble with it and did a few cool things (learned a lot about getting a self hosted AI to search the internet πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ). Finally PewDiePie’s Odysseus app launched, and I got a burning itch (get your mind out of the gutter) to learn more about harnesses and the tools built around AI to actually make it useful in advanced automated workflows. I figured that if PewDiePie was building cool apps with AI to help with his workflow, I should build a custom app for my workflow and learn about the inner workings of harnesses to make my life easier.

So I started working on my own harness Hephaestus (Greek god of artisans, blacksmiths, carpenters, craftsmen, fire, metallurgy, metalworking, sculpture, and volcanoes) to be as easy as possible for my own uses with my self hosted AI.

Side note, long have I avoided doing anything with Electron, I don’t know why I avoided it in the past, I just just focused on FX with Java for everything for some reason.

But it’s nice getting the functionality of what I want in a harness and making it as turnkey a process as possible, REALLY makes me want to actually find way to incorporate into my workflow. But while I was going back and forth between obsidian (my favorite note app by the way) and Hephaestus, I was reminded that software should have as little friction as possible so the user will actually use it. So I decided, since all the ground work has already been laid, why not just integrate it into Obsidian?

Thankfully since it was already electron based, Claude was a breeze to convert it into its plugin form and it is now live in the community plugin list!

So… you may have noticed a slight rebrand there πŸ•΅οΈ
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever be putting music out into the world nor that I would even enjoy the process. But I have actually found myself quite into this hobby and need to make some changes before this gets any bigger.

Like I briefly mentioned in a previous post, I have several other channels I have put together under the Swamp Dog Games umbrella, this channel was not supposed to be a serious venture so I didn’t put much thought into the naming process, just stick music after swamp dog and call it a day.

Found out there is some guy from the 80’s who produces music under Swamp Dogg. Completely different genre but if I want to keep putting out music, eventually I figure this is either going to be a SEO and/or trademark mess and figured I better get ahead of it before I get big enough that a rebrand turns into a real disaster.

So I have been trying to come up with an alternative under the Swamp Dog like naming scheme to no avail. Finally I decided to shirt gears entirely and will henceforth be known as DJ RocDaemon!

The DJ part I feel fits because, though I create my lyrics, I feel like curation is a better description for how I make my music rather than traditional songwriting. The Roc is short for Rochester, my hometown. Daemon (DAY-mΙ™n), I am a history, fantasy, and computer nerd and the crossover between them really fits my personality.

So hopefully the damage caused by this will be short lived and I can get back to making some fun music. Thank you to everyone who subscribed, it’s nice to know that someone is getting some enjoyment out of my work!

Looking forward to may great years ahead and many great memories!

    [Intro]
Sing now the banner β€” and the breaking of the banner.
Sing the sword-arm of the world, and the sea that closed above it.
Sing the Deceiver, whose true name we burned β€” I am of the house they cast out.
I alone am left to remember.

    [Verse 1]
Before the map, before the mourning, in the cold clans of the stone,
came Aruk, called the Unbroken, who forged the many into one.
He gave them iron. He gave them oath β€” a season sworn to spear and throne β€”
and every hearth from herd to hall raised up a banner of its own.

    [Chorus]
Raise the banner! Name is honor, cloth is soul!
To lose it is to die twice over β€”
to leave it is to lose the whole.
So sang the Iron Banners. So swore the sons of Ar.

    [Verse 2]
Aruk-Kel upon the high seat, blood of the Unbroken king.
Varn of the eastern marches, and the thunder their horses bring.
Dral of the forge and the furnace, who armored the marching dead.
And Arn β€” the scholar-generals β€” who read the war before it bled.

    [Verse 3]
To the south rose gentle Numinar, all temple-smoke and grain,
where Ar raised halls of banners, they raised oracles to the rain.
Two pillars of one heaven: the praying hand, the fist β€”
no two lands were less alike, and none were closer than they kissed.

    [Pre-Chorus]
But a fortress fed on worship is a fortress fed on breath,
and the brightest of the servants learned to love his makers’ death.

    [Chorus]
Raise the banner! Name is honor, cloth is soul!
To lose it is to die twice over β€”
to leave it is to lose the whole.

    [Verse 4]
We name him now the Deceiver β€” his true name we do not keep,
for Arn has burned it from the world and drowned it in the deep.
The brightest of the servants, raised the nearest to the throne,
who walked as light before the gods β€” then hungered for their own.

    [Verse 5]
He would not strike the deep well; the deeper well was barred,
so the Deceiver poisoned friendship, where the roots grew soft, unguarded.
No blade, no host, no herald β€” only omens, only lies:
false oracles in the war-temples, and murder wearing patriots’ eyes.

    [Verse: 6]
“Your dead are drained to feed them! Your friend was faithless from the first!”
To a nation built on fidelity, no wound was ever worse.
The high oracle lay slaughtered upon the sovereign stone β€”
and each land read the same red death in a language all its own.

    [Bridge]
Then rose Kaelen, Lord of Arn, with the Codex in his hand,
and spoke the words the children still are made to understand:
“I have studied every war that Ar has ever fought β€”
and this one has no author among mortals. We are caught.
Look how perfectly we are goaded. Look how our fear is fed.
When the foe knows your heart the better β€”
you march to a grave already spread.”

    [Verse 7]
For this they named him craven. For this they named him thrall.
They burned the halls of Arn while the watchmen watched it all.
They stripped him of the Codex, and they cast his kindred far β€”
to a salt-bitten grave at the world’s edge, and washed their hands of Arn.

    [Outro]
They meant it as a tomb, that lonely tower by the foam.
They did not know β€” they could not know β€”
they had sent the last of Ar safely home.

Sorry about that break in posting there. Every year around the start of July, I volunteer with a youth program (btw contact your local American Legion post for more info on Boys and Girls State) and I wanted to put my focus 100% on that. It then took me a bit to try to get my muse back; thankfully after #TheOdyssey got me thinking about the classics of western civilization again (0 days since thinking about the Roman Empire), I realized that a traumatic event like the Fall of Ar in my would have inspired many epics so I made my own 3 part tale in song! I really enjoy my day job but it does not leave much free time to try and learn a new skill. Though I have always loved writing songs for my universe as I want it to feel as lived in as possible, I have not been able to acquire the music skills so I could play anything I made. I thank God that we live in a time that we have access to AI at a level that finally allows me to hear the worlds I create and give my creation its own voice!

P.S. This was supposed to be the background of a Yankee Doodle Remix I was going to do for the 250th but Suno kept telling me I was not allowed to because Yankee Doodle was copyrighted. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Unfortunately after spending more time and money than I cared to in the attempt I couldn’t get a result I was happy with so I ended up missing the 4th. 😭 But I wanted to include the image here in memory of what I had originally planned.

    [Verse 1]
I rolled myself a spacer and I loved him like a son,
Strength of nine, a steady hand, I named him Captain Dunn.
I sent him to the Scout Service, the bravest of the braveβ€”
He failed his first survival roll. I’m digging him a grave!

    [Chorus]
I lost another one in character creation! (Lost him!)
    Before we ever played!
I lost another one in character creation,
Three hours and no campaign’s been made!
    Two-dee-six keeps turning on me,
So I bow my weary headβ€”
There’s a body on my graph paper
And I HAVEN’T PLAYED HIM YET!

    [Verse 2]
So I rolled myself a merchant and I swore he’d see it all,
He survived his term, I got too bold and signed him up for the haul.
Re-enlisted four more times to grab that mustering hoardβ€”
He died one term too greedy and I screamed and flipped the board!

    [Chorus]
I lost another one in character creation! (Lost him!)
    Mustered out inside a box!
I lost another one in character creation,
I’ve a graveyard where I should have stocks!
    Two-dee-six don’t care I named him,
Pour me out and bow my headβ€”
That’s the second guy this evening
And they’re both stone-cold and dead!

    [Bridge]
Now the Referee is cackling, says, “Just roll another, friend,”
I’ve sat three hours in this chair and watched a half a dozen end!
I only want a starship with a blaster on my hipβ€”
But they all roll up “Deceased” before I ever board the ship!

    [Verse 3]
So pour me out a soda and I’ll grab my dice once moreβ€”
But I’m DONE with feeding heroes to that Scout Service door!
This time I’ll outsmart the bastard, keep my fella safe and smallβ€”

    [Verse 4]
[the chef’s theme, a little proud, a little pathetic]
So I rolled a little nobody and I kept his ambitions low,
A humble cook named Pierre with nowhere brave to go.
He tried to join the Merchants but he flubbed the enlist rollβ€”
Now he’s broke and unemployed… but BLESS the dice, HE’S WHOLE!

    [Final Chorus]
[full band, triumphant, loudest gang vocals]
I finally KEPT one in character creation! (He lives!)
He made it through the test!
I finally kept one in character creation,
He’s the worst, but he’s the BEST!
    Two-dee-six can’t kill a no-one,
Raise him high above my headβ€”
    He’s a jobless, skill-less spaceman
But the man is NOT YET DEAD!

    [Outro]
Four hours later… we finally begin. Presenting our hero: Pierreβ€”No career, no credits, no skillsβ€”one cast-iron skillet and a heart full of soup.
…The adventure’s a derelict warship crawling with pirates.
    …He brought a ladle.
BUT HE’S ALIVE! HE’S ALIVE! WE’RE FINALLY GONNA PLAY
…he choked on the soup. You need to roll up a new one.
    DAMN YOU!

    [Verse 1]
Mr. Johnson bought the drinks and the gig sounded sweet
“Grab the paydata, slip right out, easy nuyen, nice and neat”
The cred was way too good and the meet was way too dim
Red flags like a real dragon… so of course we took it from him

    [Pre-Chorus]
Plan A was a beauty, we rehearsed it three times more
Plan A lasted ten whole seconds once we kicked in the front door

    [Chorus]
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
Alarms and lead and screaming in the night
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
The troll’s stuck in the doorway and the mage forgot to fight
We’re bleedin’ out for drek pay and a handshake and a lie
    Another flawless milk run
    Chummer, kiss your hoop goodbye!

    [Verse 2]
The decker yelled “I’m in!” then he sat there for a week
IC chewin’ up his deck and now the spirits gettin’ freaky
The street sam’s out of ammo, the adept just hit the floor
The rigger crashed our getaway through somebody’s grocery store

    [Pre-Chorus]
Then somebody starts shootin’ plot twist, it’s our own guy!
Turns out our Mr. Johnson was a Mr. Johnson in disguiseβ€”

    [Chorus]
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
Alarms and lead and screaming in the night
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
The troll’s stuck in the doorway and the mage forgot to fight
We’re bleedin’ out for drek pay and a handshake and a lie
    Another flawless milk run
    Chummer, kiss your hoop goodbye!

    [Bridge]
We geeked the wrong contact, we torched the wrong car
We blew up the McGuffin and we burned down the bar
The corp has got our faces, there’s a bounty on our names
We did it all for nothing β€”
’cause the chip was full of GAMES!

    [Final Chorus]
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
Alarms and lead and screaming in the night
    It’s going SIDEWAYS! (sideways!)
The troll’s stuck in the doorway and the mage forgot to fight
We’re bleedin’ out for drek pay and a handshake and a lie
    Another flawless milk run
    Chummer, kiss your hoop goodbye!

    [Outro]
SINless, broke, and bleeding, back at the bar by dawn
    Johnson’s got a new job, omae…
(…yeah. yeah, we’re puttin’ the gear back on.)
    here we go again
